LOWDOWN IN LOCKDOWN

Hey guys, it’s Marcus from Fitness Republic with your lowdown in lockdown! I’m sure by now you’re fed up with the current situation and want life to be back to normal, trust me – I do too! Here’s my tips on keeping positive right now….

First things first, you cannot change the current situation so we have to make the most of it.

How? Think long and hard if you had all the time in the world what would you do? Learn a new skill? Get all those jobs done round the house you don’t have time for? Spend quality time with close family? You will probably never have this much free time again so my suggestion is to use it wisely!

Get into a routine – now more than ever it’s too easy to stay in bed watching Netflix and without work you may struggle with a reason or the motivation to get out of bed, so make a list of things to do the next day. It doesn’t have to be long or exciting just give yourself something to do each day and get into a routine.

Now here’s the big one – Stay Active!

Keeping active whilst in quarantine should be one of your main priorities. You’ve probably seen all over the news that exercise is so important at this time, and in fact it has been reported how exercise has a profound effect on your immune system. The effect it has on your mental well being is now more important than ever. With limited equipment and your normal training schedule thrown out the window it could be easy to get demoralised.

However, any form of stimulus to a muscle will help retain what you have built over time, so get training, get creative! Body weight exercises, the odd kettle bell, dumbbell, resistance band, water bottle, plant pot, whatever you have anything is better than nothing.

With our members here at Fitness Republic we have designed a full online class timetable of over 30 live classes per week to keep you going so you don’t miss a beat! Lots of HIIT, Pilates, Yoga, Zumba and Abs classes! Hopefully this gives you some ideas and motivation to keep going through this challenging time! MESSAGE FROM CLUB OWNER SIMON

Hi guys, I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of our members for the support you have shown us during this challenging period. I’ve had so many messages from you guys letting us know you’re behind us and it’s truly humbling

When we shut our doors on March 20th it was very emotional, not just because the gym was shut, but because I was going to miss you all very much! You have become such a huge part of our lives that it’s left a little empty space.

When we started Fitness Republic, our main ambition was to create a place that was more than a gym, we wanted it to be more like a place to make friends, socialise and feel like a big family, oh and workout too.

This year in May it is our 10th birthday and what started off so amazing has certainly turned out a little different, but anyone who knows me will know that I always see the positive in any situation. I’m not one to stay down and I’m determined that this will make us better than ever.

As mentioned in the article, currently we are running a Fitness Republic live Facebook TV Channel and hosting over 30 Classes per week to keep you going. It’s not the same as seeing you in real life but hopefully it helps.

There is light at the end of the tunnel – and until then we’ll keep in touch and I can’t wait to get back and see you all, it’s going to be amazing! See you all soon.

    Hi Simon,
    I have been so busy in the garden doing all those projects that until now I haven’t had the time or quite frankly the inclination to do. It’s been very rewarding actually, creating raised veggie beds, sawing, painting, planing and installing so using plenty of muscles and getting plenty of exercise. I have participated in a few of the online classes and doing my morning stretches and exercises as normal. I have kettle bells, and hand dumb bells so it’s not been too bad. Can’t wait to back to the gym though. You guys have been amazing with your online videos and classes, Be great to see everyone again
